Drivers are experiencing severe delays

The M11 has been shut down between junction 8 at Bishop's Stortford and junction 7A at Harlow, leading to significant delays for drivers. The closure was triggered by a lorry and car collision.

National Highways confirmed that a heavy goods vehicle crossed the central reservation barrier and overturned, with another car possibly involved in the incident. The live traffic blog, Inrix, reported the crash occurred just before 3pm today, resulting in the closure of the motorway in both directions. An air ambulance has been dispatched to the scene.

National Highways stated, "The M11 in Essex is closed southbound between J8 near Stansted Airport and J7A near Harlow North due to a collision involving an overturned heavy goods vehicle which has crossed from the northbound carriageway onto the southbound carriageway and has subsequently overturned and come to rest on its side."
