The two-time All-Star hurler, Anthony Nash, asked a garda "do you know who I am?" when he was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after his car was found mounted in a ditch with the back of the vehicle protruding onto the road, a court has heard.

Former Cork hurler and two-time All-Star, Anthony Nash, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after his car was found in a ditch with the back protruding onto the road. During the incident, Nash asked the garda 'do you know who I am?' and admitted to being drunk. However, the case against him was dismissed due to lack of evidence regarding the time of driving.

In Cork District Court, Garda Catherine Byrne testified that she found Nash's car crashed into a ditch in Cloghroe, with the front mounted on the ditch and the back on the road. Nash, 40, identified himself as the driver and confessed to being intoxicated. Despite the strong smell of alcohol and his unsteady demeanor, the case was dismissed as there was no evidence of the time of driving.

Under cross-examination, it was revealed that there was no formal statement from a witness to the crash. Despite Nash's admission and failed attempt to provide a urine sample, the judge dismissed the case due to the absence of evidence linking the time of driving to the alcohol test.

Anthony Nash, known for his successful hurling career with Cork, retired from inter-county hurling in 2020. He was part of multiple championship-winning teams and received numerous accolades during his career.
