A well-known angler from South Florida has raised concerns about the presence of sharks in the state, sharing a disturbing video that shows bull sharks attacking a sailfish that was caught near a boat.
Posting on Instagram, Viktor Hluben of Landshark Outdoors expressed his frustration over losing another sailfish to sharks. He described how two bull sharks aggressively went after the fish as soon as it was brought close to the boat. Despite efforts to give the sailfish a chance to escape by opening the bail, the exhausted fish was unable to outswim the predators. (Warning: The video contains graphic content showing blood.)
In the footage, Hluben emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating that Florida has a 'real problem' with sharks. However, not all of his followers shared the same view, with one comment suggesting that the angler may be the issue rather than the sharks.
