Renowned TV host Timmy Mallet recently finished a cycling journey around the coastline of the island of Ireland, covering a total of 6,000 kilometers. During this extensive journey, he discovered a family connection to Blacksod Lighthouse in Co Mayo, which left a lasting impact on him.

Timmy Mallet, known for his vibrant personality and popular children's TV series in the 80s and 90s, embarked on this cycling adventure to raise awareness about people's potential. This initiative was inspired by the passing of his brother Martin in 2018, who had Down's Syndrome.

Starting with a cycle along Northern Ireland's and Donegal's coast in March last year, Mallet eventually completed the entire circumnavigation of the island. Expressing his thoughts at Stormont, he shared his journey's highlights and the warmth and kindness he experienced from the people of Ireland.

During his journey, Mallet covered various regions, including the Wild Atlantic Way, where he was captivated by the beauty and friendliness of the locals. He reminisced about encounters with individuals who had made a difference in his life, such as a family connection at a Mayo lighthouse and a person who assisted him during Wacaday filming 35 years ago.
