A 43-year-old van driver in Singapore is set to face charges for driving at 132km/h, more than 60km/h above the speed limit on the PIE on April 13. Along with seven other motorists, he will be charged for exceeding speed limits by more than 40km/h. Two of them, including the van driver, went 60km/h over the limit. The drivers will face fines, jail time, or both, with subsequent offenders facing harsher penalties. Speeding is a major cause of accidents in Singapore, contributing to one in three fatal crashes. Starting in 2026, motorists caught speeding will face increased penalties. The traffic police are committed to enforcing the law and ensuring road safety for all users.
