In a dramatic turn of events, the suspect accused of fatally shooting a Minnesota lawmaker and injuring another has been apprehended by authorities. Vance Boelter surrendered to police after being located in the woods near his home, bringing an end to a massive search that gripped the state.

Boelter has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder. He is set to appear in court on Monday afternoon as per jail records.

Allegedly, Boelter posed as a police officer and shot former Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, in their home. Additionally, he targeted Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, at their residence.

After a large-scale manhunt that involved multiple tactical teams and a helicopter search, Boelter was found in the woods and surrendered to police. Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the attacks.

The incident has raised concerns about political violence and the need for unity in the face of deep political divisions. As the community mourns the loss of the victims, there has been an outpouring of support for the injured lawmakers.

At the Minnesota State Capitol, a memorial with flowers, flags, and messages has been set up to honor the victims. Residents have expressed their grief and admiration for Melissa Hortman, calling her a 'powerhouse' and a 'hero of Minnesota government.'
