A new survey from Toronto-Dominion Bank shows Canadians may be more adept with AI than they believe, with lower levels of trust and familiarity potentially holding them back.

A recent survey conducted by Toronto-Dominion Bank reveals that Canadians may have more expertise in AI than they realize, with trust and familiarity issues potentially hindering their progress.

The survey showed that 87% of Canadians expressed comfort in using, learning, and adapting to new technologies.

However, there appears to be a disparity between confidence and actual proficiency in AI, as only 3% of respondents rated themselves with an A grade, while 40% gave themselves a C grade.

Christine Morris, a senior executive vice-president at TD, mentioned in a statement that the survey indicates Canadians are comfortable with AI adaptation, but the technology itself may still feel unfamiliar.

Furthermore, the survey revealed that trust in AI is relatively low, with only 43% considering it a reliable source of information.

Conducted by Ipsos on behalf of TD in March, the survey gathered responses from 2,500 individuals, with a margin of error of 2.2 percentage points, 19 times out of 20, if all Canadian adults had been surveyed.
