Dublin-based queer Irish/Italian photographer Alex Del Chill has launched 'Metallic Cocoon', the first chapter of his new photo saga.

Dublin-based queer Irish/Italian photographer Alex Del Chill has recently unveiled 'Metallic Cocoon', the initial installment of his innovative photo series Project Transhumanism. Shot at Flux Studios, the collection combines mythical elements with cyber aesthetics, utilizing latex chrysalises, chain-adorned sets, and dreamlike styling to redefine the concept of human transformation.

Central to the project is a collaborative approach that fosters artistic evolution. In 'Metallic Cocoon', model Saoirse A. Jackson embodies a theatrical, otherworldly persona, while makeup artist Gavin Higgins plays with gritty, distorted textures. Stylist Juno creates surreal visuals with claw-like accessories, silver wire, and layered latex, crafting a mesmerizing, sticky appearance.

More than just a photo shoot, Project Transhumanism represents a comprehensive artistic journey. It establishes inclusive creative spaces with LGBTQ+ artists as focal points, promoting personal expression and interdisciplinary skill-sharing. 'We're constructing entire universes together,' Juno remarks. 'The use of metal, latex, and claws conveys a sense of both primordial and futuristic essence. It's ritualistic. It's a narrative of transformation.'

Alex Del Chill's methodology challenges contemporary tech-focused, AI-driven narratives by emphasizing transformation through tangible, analog collaboration.

'I contemplated the theme of relinquishing the past to welcome a brighter future,' Del Chill elucidates. 'A character undergoes significant trials that may seem futile, but ultimately, the purpose behind the suffering is unveiled, leading to bliss or the rewards of their efforts. Escaping the confines of the cocoon signifies a complete metamorphosis into a more formidable, empowered entity.'

Del Chill attributes his passion for photography to a pivotal moment at age 10, when he captured images of Greek ruins with his grandmother's camera. 'She recognized my talent,' he reminisces. 'Now, I aim to utilize this talent to demonstrate how imagination and self-expression can serve as catalysts for personal growth.'

As 'Metallic Cocoon' unfolds, it provides a captivating glimpse into a vast realm where mythology, technology, and queer identity intersect to narrate tales of transformation, strength, and self-discovery.
