A group of seven Indian players is prepared to participate in the Asian Individual Squash Championships 2025 at the Sarawak Squash Centre in Petra Jaya, Kuching, Malaysia, commencing on Tuesday.

Defending national squash champion Velavan Senthilkumar and former Asian junior champion will lead India's men at the 23rd edition of the Asian Squash Championships, happening from June 17 to 21.

Rahul Baitha and Suraj Chand, who won silver and bronze medals at the National Games earlier this year, will also represent India in Kuching.

However, Saurav Ghosal, who returned from retirement earlier this year, will not be part of the Indian team. He had previously won the tournament in 2019 and was the runner-up in the 2017 edition of the championships.

Asian Games gold medallist Abhay Singh is another Indian men's player who will not compete in singles action in Malaysia. He, along with India's top women's singles player Anahat Singh, have chosen to participate only in the doubles championships, commencing next week.

Former Indian No.1 Akanksha Salunkhe will lead the women's category in the absence of two-time Asian champion Joshana Chinappa, who withdrew from the tournament last week. Akanksha Salunkhe and Shameena Riaz are the other players representing India in the women's division.

The Asian Squash Championships will feature a straight knockout format for both men's and women's categories, starting from the round of 64 stage and concluding in the final on Saturday.
