Scientists have been exploring the Martian surface for decades in search of any signs of life. A recent photo taken by NASA's Curiosity rover has sparked speculation that this hunt may have come to an end.

The image captured from the Martian surface seems to depict a peculiar 'mushroom' growing on Mars, leading some to claim that 'Life...has been found!'

The photo was taken by the Curiosity rover on September 19, 2013, and was discovered in the archives by UFO enthusiast Scott Waring. He points out the similarities between the structure and a mushroom, questioning why NASA may have overlooked such a finding.

However, scientists offer a simpler explanation for the mysterious object.

NASA's Curiosity rover was launched to Mars in 2011 with the primary objective of determining if the planet could support microscopic life. Equipped with various tools and cameras, the rover has been exploring the Martian surface for over a decade but has not found any evidence of alien life.

Despite this, many wild speculations have arisen following the rover's discoveries, including the recent 'mushroom' sighting.

Dr. Gareth Dorrian, a planetary physicist, explains that the supposed 'mushroom' is likely a naturally occurring rock formation. He suggests that wind-driven processes on Mars could create such structures, or they could be geological formations known as concretions, formed billions of years ago when liquid water was present on Mars.

These concretions, harder than the surrounding rock, often stand out on the surface, resembling mushroom shapes as wind erosion carves away the softer material.

Moreover, the harsh conditions on the Martian surface, including extreme temperatures, low atmospheric pressure, and high radiation levels, make it highly unlikely for any form of life to survive above ground. Dr. Dorrian emphasizes that if life exists on Mars, it would more likely be found underground, shielded from the harsh environment.

Therefore, the 'mushroom' sighting is most likely a geological feature rather than evidence of life thriving on Mars.
