President Donald Trump says he won't call Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz after the targeted shootings of two state lawmakers because it would “waste time.”

President Donald Trump made it clear on Tuesday that he will not be reaching out to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz following the targeted shootings of two state lawmakers, citing it as a waste of time.

One lawmaker and her husband lost their lives in the shootings, while the second legislator and his wife suffered serious injuries. The suspect turned himself in to the police on Sunday.

While speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump expressed his disinterest in contacting Governor Walz, referring to him as 'slick' and 'whacked out.' Trump mentioned that he does not typically call the governor and does not see the need to do so in this situation.

Presidents often extend their condolences and offer federal assistance to elected officials during times of tragedy, but Trump seemed uninterested in doing so in this case.

The suspect in the shootings, Vance Boelter, surrendered to the police after a two-day manhunt. Boelter, a former political appointee, had connections to a former Democratic House Speaker, but the extent of his relationship with the victims remains unclear.

Friends and colleagues described Boelter as a devout Christian who supported Trump and attended campaign rallies. He faces charges of murder and stalking, with the possibility of a death sentence if convicted.

Minnesota Governor Walz expressed gratitude for the support received from various officials, including Vice President JD Vance and former President Joe Biden. Despite the lack of outreach from Trump, Walz acknowledged the assistance provided by other leaders during this difficult time.

In an interview, Walz stated that he was open to expressions of gratitude and appreciated the collaboration with law enforcement agencies to address the situation.
