Actress Banita Sandhu recently opened up about her personal encounter with body shaming and the emotional impact it had on her. She recalled facing harsh criticism early in her career, particularly after working on a South Indian film.

In an interview with ANI, Banita revealed that she was labeled as 'ugly' following her stint in a South Indian movie. She recounted being body-shamed and called names due to her slender appearance. The actress expressed her surprise at the negative comments, given her upbringing in Wales, which had a different beauty standard.

She explained that she didn't let the criticism affect her deeply, as she understood the regional differences in beauty ideals. Banita emphasized that she is naturally thin and consumes a lot of food, even on set. She advised against taking online trolling seriously, highlighting the need to ignore such remarks.

Banita Sandhu made her cinematic debut in Shoojit Sircar's 'October' alongside Varun Dhawan in 2018. She described it as a privilege to work with a renowned director at the beginning of her career. Following this, Banita appeared in the American sci-fi series 'Pandora' and the Tamil film 'Adithya Varma'.

Currently, she is preparing for the release of 'Detective Sherdil', where she stars opposite Diljit Dosanjh. Directed and edited by Ravi Chhabriya, the film boasts an ensemble cast including Diana Penty, Boman Irani, Ratna Pathak Shah, Chunky Panday, Sumeet Vyas, and Kashmira Irani. 'Detective Sherdil' is set to hit the screens on June 20.
