Pakistan recently carried out a medical evacuation of an injured Indian sailor from an oil tanker in the Arabian Sea, showcasing a rare act of humanity following a brief war between the two countries. The evacuation was managed by the Pakistan Navy's Joint Maritime Information and Coordination Center (JMICC) after receiving a distress call from the Liberian-flagged oil and chemical tanker MT HIGH LEADER, which had an all-Indian crew on board.

The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) promptly responded by deploying a vessel to transfer the injured crew member to a hospital in Karachi for urgent medical care. The successful operation highlighted the efficiency and preparedness of Pakistan's maritime safety mechanisms, demonstrating the country's commitment to upholding international obligations for the safety of all seafarers, regardless of their nationality.

This incident occurred amidst heightened diplomatic tensions between Pakistan and India, following a recent military standoff that involved various forms of weaponry exchanges. Pakistan has consistently advocated for the resumption of a comprehensive dialogue process to address longstanding issues such as the Kashmir conflict, cross-border terrorism, and the Indus Waters Treaty. However, India has been reluctant to engage in such discussions thus far.

The JMICC, responsible for coordinating the medical evacuation, serves as a vital maritime emergency response center in Pakistan, maintaining regular communication with both domestic and international partners.
