It surprised many that Mabrey was not ejected from the Fever's 88-71 win.

It was a contentious night in Indianapolis as the Connecticut Sun and Indiana Fever faced off in a WNBA game. The first half was relatively normal with both teams competing closely. However, things took a turn in the second half.

During the third quarter, Fever's Caitlin Clark was poked in the eye by Jacy Sheldon while she had possession of the ball. This led to an exchange of words between Clark and Sheldon, escalating the situation. As Tina Charles tried to intervene, Marina Mabrey pushed Clark to the ground.

After the dust settled, Sheldon received a flagrant one foul, while Mabrey, Clark, and Charles were all given technical fouls. Despite the physical altercation, Mabrey was not ejected from the game, as crew chief Ashley Gloss explained that her actions did not meet the criteria for an ejection or a flagrant foul penalty two.

However, the night was far from over. In the final seconds of the game, Sophie Cunningham pulled Sheldon's hair from behind, causing another scuffle. Cunningham was ejected and received a flagrant 2 foul, while Sheldon and Lindsay Allen were also ejected for fighting.

Although the Fever secured an 88-71 win and Clark had an impressive 20-point performance, the game was marred by the multiple altercations that took place. WNBA referees have faced criticism for allowing such feistiness to escalate during games, with some coaches expressing their concerns over the officiating.
