Seeking Clarity in Tehran Amid Israeli Airstrikes: A Personal Account

BBC Persian's Kasra Naji says his sister is among those who want to know where the conflict with Israel is leading.

Fear and anxiety grip my sister in Tehran as Israeli jets continue to fly overhead, with sporadic WhatsApp connections providing intermittent updates.

Seeking guidance, she turns to me, aware of my role as a journalist with the BBC in London. 'What is going to happen? What should we do?' she asks, referencing US President Donald Trump's evacuation suggestion for residents of Tehran.

Since Thursday night, Israeli planes have been targeting Tehran, facing minimal resistance from anti-aircraft fire. From her vantage point in a high-rise building, my sister witnesses the ongoing conflict, adding to her distress.

Despite evacuation orders issued by the Israeli military for her district, my sister opts to remain in her home. While she believes there are no military installations nearby, she expresses concern about a neighboring commercial unit suspected to be affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards.

Uncertainty looms as many residents are unaware of potential military targets in their vicinity, given the secretive nature of the Revolutionary Guards' operations.
