Withdrawal from event follows string of appearances as Catherine seeks right balance after cancer treatment

The Princess of Wales has decided not to attend Royal Ascot as she continues to navigate her public appearances following her cancer treatment. Catherine, along with her husband King Charles and Queen Camilla, expressed disappointment at missing the race meeting on Wednesday.

Since announcing her remission from cancer in January, Catherine has been gradually returning to her royal duties. She has recently attended three significant events, including trooping the colour, the annual Order of the Garter service, and a visit to V&A East Storehouse in London.

While her public appearances have been on the rise, she is still working on finding the right balance as she fully immerses herself in public engagements once again.

Despite racegoers anticipating her presence, Kensington Palace confirmed that Catherine would not be attending Royal Ascot. Ascot officials had initially included her in the royal procession alongside William, but a revised carriage list was later published.

In January, Kate shared that she was in remission from an undisclosed form of cancer after receiving chemotherapy at the Royal Marsden hospital in Chelsea. She emphasized her focus on staying cancer-free, following a challenging nine months for her family. William also acknowledged the difficulties they faced in 2024 in a separate interview.
