K-Electric and K-Solar Collaborate with Huawei Technologies to Drive Smart Energy Solutions in Pakistan

In a significant move towards establishing a sustainable energy ecosystem in Pakistan, K-Electric (KE) and its subsidiary K-Solar have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Huawei Technologies at the company's headquarters in Shenzhen, China. The collaboration aims to explore, develop, and implement innovative energy technologies across Pakistan.

The partnership will focus on three main areas: utility-scale and industrial-level battery energy storage systems (BESS), electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, and the creation of microgrids. The MoU outlines plans for cooperative feasibility assessments, technology sharing, and pilot projects to support Pakistan's transition to a cleaner and more intelligent energy landscape.

According to Muhammad Aamir Ghaziani, CFO of KE and Chairman of K-Solar, this partnership is in line with their investment strategy and sustainability roadmap, aiming to enhance the energy value chain through technology-enabled assets. He emphasized the importance of innovation in securing Pakistan's energy future.

Kevin Jin Yu, Managing Director Digital Power Huawei Pakistan, expressed Huawei's pride in collaborating with K-Electric and K-Solar to establish intelligent energy systems in Pakistan. By leveraging Huawei's expertise in smart infrastructure and KE's energy knowledge, the goal is to develop scalable, secure, and sustainable energy solutions that support the country's green transformation.

Fahd Khawaja, CEO of K-Solar, highlighted the plan to utilize cutting-edge global technology, in partnership with Huawei, to provide efficient, reliable, and sustainable battery energy storage solutions to industrial users across Pakistan.

Under the agreement, the parties will work together to assess technical feasibility, develop market strategies, and pilot new energy solutions tailored to Pakistan's specific requirements. The collaboration will also address regulatory and policy frameworks to accelerate the adoption of innovative energy solutions in the country.

ABOUT K-ELECTRIC:

K-Electric (KE) is a publicly listed company established in Pakistan in 1913 as KESC. Following privatization in 2005, KE became the sole vertically integrated utility in Pakistan, serving electricity within a 6500 square kilometer area, including Karachi and its surrounding regions. The majority shares of the company are listed on the PSX and owned by KES Power, a consortium of investors from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Pakistan. The Government of Pakistan also holds a minority stake in the company.
