Trawlerman, the 85/40 favorite, secured victory in the 2025 Gold Cup at Royal Ascot on day three, outperforming Illinois and Dubai Future. Trained by John and Thady Gosden, the seven-year-old stayer led the race from start to finish under jockey William Buick.

Last year's runner-up, Trawlerman, owned by Godolphin, capitalized on the retirement of the dual winner, Kyprios. Buick's expertly judged ride helped Trawlerman pull away in the final furlong, winning by an impressive seven lengths. Dubai Future, under Saeed bin Suroor, finished third in the Godolphin colors.

Buick expressed his delight at finally adding the Gold Cup to his list of achievements after Trawlerman's success at Royal Ascot. He praised the horse's extraordinary skills, lung capacity, and stamina, highlighting the challenge of leading for two and a half miles.

John Gosden, the Clarehaven handler, admitted to feeling relieved during the final furlong of the race. He described Trawlerman as a grand and lovely horse, emphasizing the strong bond between Trawlerman and Sweet William, who finished fourth.

O'Brien's Treble Victory

Trinity College, ridden by Ryan Moore, delivered a commanding performance in the Hampton Court Stakes, securing a treble victory for Aidan O'Brien on day three of Royal Ascot. The French Derby fourth, Trinity College, started as the 5/2 favorite and led the Group Three race from the beginning.

Tornado Alert, Trinity College's closest competitor, attempted to keep pace during the race but was unable to match the winner's acceleration in the final furlong. Trinity College crossed the finish line with a comfortable lead of three and a half lengths.
