Nissanka's brilliant performance included 23 boundaries and a six, coming off 256 deliveries before being dismissed by Hasan Mahmud late in the day. The 27-year-old opener, who had been struggling with his form, built crucial partnerships throughout the day.

Expressing his joy after scoring his first Test century at home, Nissanka emphasized the importance of gaining a substantial lead to put pressure on the opposition. Despite his recent lack of big scores, Nissanka was pleased with his performance and aimed to capitalize on the opportunity.
