Prime Minister Modi to visit Siwan, Bihar for public meeting, development projects, and Vande Bharat Express launch.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Siwan in poll-bound Bihar on Friday (June 20, 2025) to address a public meeting and inaugurate various development projects amounting to ₹9.5 crore. Additionally, he will launch a new Vande Bharat Express train connecting Patliputra Junction in Patna to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh.

This visit marks Mr. Modi's fourth trip to Bihar this year, ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in October-November.

Political Significance of Siwan

Siwan holds political importance due to its significant Muslim, Yadav (OBC), and Scheduled Caste voter base, traditionally known as a stronghold of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). The district shares borders with Saran and Gopalganj, where BJP workers are preparing for Mr. Modi's rally.

It is worth noting that Siwan was the birthplace of independent India's first President, Rajendra Prasad, which might be referenced by Mr. Modi during his speech.

Previous Visits and Statements

Earlier visits by the PM to Bihar included a roadshow in Patna and a public rally in Rohtas district. During his visits, Mr. Modi reiterated his commitment to fulfilling promises made to the people.

On a previous visit to Jhanjharpur, the PM vowed to take strong action against terrorists responsible for attacks, emphasizing that justice would be served.

Political Response

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav criticized Mr. Modi's upcoming visit, accusing him of focusing on personal attacks rather than addressing critical issues such as unemployment and migration. Mr. Yadav suggested that the PM's visit was merely an opportunity to criticize his political opponents.

Despite the political tensions, the visit is expected to bring attention to key development projects and infrastructure initiatives in Bihar.
