The company is expanding its software commitment as it moves into a more flagship approach.

Nothing, the tech company, recently announced that its flagship Phone 3 will receive five years of Android OS upgrades and seven years of security patches. This is a significant increase from the Phone 2's previous promises. The Phone 3 is expected to launch on July 1 and will feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 for improved performance.

A leak has provided insight into Nothing's commitment to software updates for its upcoming flagship device. Co-founder Akis Evangelidis revealed that the Phone 3 will offer consumers five years of Android OS updates and seven years of security updates. While the frequency of security updates remains unclear, Nothing's push towards a more flagship status suggests a higher level of support for users.

Compared to the Phone 2, which offered three years of Android OS updates and four years of security updates, the Phone 3's extended support will take consumers well into 2030. Evangelidis also shared details about the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC that will power the Phone 3, promising significant improvements in GPU, CPU power, and NPU performance.

CEO Carl Pei confirmed that the Phone 3 will indeed feature the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC, emphasizing a considerable performance boost over its predecessor. Pei highlighted the phone's enhanced camera capabilities and overall snappier performance, attributing the choice of chipset to providing users with a balanced experience.

The Nothing Phone 3 is scheduled to launch alongside the Headphone 1 on July 1 in London. The smartphone will introduce a new design element, replacing the Glyph lighting system with a dot-matrix display.
