Air India confirmed that its Boeing aircraft was well-maintained before the fatal crash that occurred a week ago, resulting in the loss of all but one of the 242 individuals on board, as reported by the airline on Thursday (Jun 19).

Indian authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner's crash in Ahmedabad, where 38 people lost their lives.

As investigators work to retrieve information from the plane's black boxes, which include the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder, Air India stated that no issues were identified with the aircraft prior to the tragedy.

The airline mentioned, "The plane underwent thorough maintenance, with its most recent major inspection in June 2023."

"The right engine underwent maintenance in March 2025, while the left engine was inspected in April 2025. Both the aircraft and engines were regularly monitored and showed no signs of problems before the flight," Air India added.

The aircraft, heading to London, caught fire and crashed into a residential area of Ahmedabad shortly after takeoff.

Following the crash, initial examinations of Air India's Dreamliners did not uncover any significant safety issues, as stated by the country's civil aviation regulator on Tuesday.

India's aviation investigative unit reported on Thursday that the investigation is making steady progress.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau mentioned in a statement, "Critical recovery efforts, such as site documentation and evidence collection, have been completed, and further analysis is currently in progress."
