China Mobile and Huawei were recently recognized at MWC Shanghai 2025 with the prestigious GSMA's Best AI Innovation in Asia Award for their groundbreaking AI Core Network solution. This award underscores the industry's acknowledgment of their technological advancements and business strategies in core network and AI, solidifying their position as pioneers in the mobile AI era.

AI Core Network wins the Best AI Innovation in Asia Award

The integration of 5G-A and AI technologies marks the beginning of the mobile AI era, enabling a significant increase in connections between individuals, households, and industries. This development is pushing core networks to expand connectivity boundaries and meet the diverse service needs of users, businesses, and AI systems.

China Mobile and Huawei have led the way in incorporating AI into the core network to support intelligent applications with smart networks. The AI Core Network is evolving in two key phases. The first phase involves building a 5G-A intelligent core network with AI agents to enhance network intelligence significantly, enabling the implementation of intelligent services, experiences, and operations. This phase also introduces computing-network convergence to address computing power and energy challenges faced by user devices. The second phase focuses on transforming the core network into an AI-native structure, evolving into an Agentic Core. The Agentic Core is capable of self-generation, self-optimization, and self-maintenance, dynamically adapting to real-time personalized service requirements.

As a leader in service intelligence, New Calling has been widely adopted in China, offering innovative services like Visualized Voice Calling, Fun Calling, and Real-time Translation. The Intelligent Personalized Experience (IPE) solution for network intelligence is commercially deployed in multiple Chinese provinces, enabling service, user, and network awareness to help operators transition from traffic-based to experience-based monetization. O&M intelligence has been integrated into operators' production systems, reshaping O&M models and enhancing operations, maintenance, and customer experiences. China Mobile Zhejiang branch has pioneered the use of AI agents for fault management and complaint handling. Additionally, China Mobile and Huawei have collaborated to develop a low-carbon core network through hardware-software cooperation to achieve system-level energy efficiency.

George Gao, President of Huawei Cloud Core Network Product Line, emphasized that integrating AI into the core network is a defining characteristic of the mobile AI era. The AI Core Network will serve as a platform for innovative services, accelerating the transition from intelligent connectivity of things to intelligent connectivity of AI agents. Huawei is committed to working with China Mobile and industry partners to create more innovative services, empower various industries, and generate greater business value.

MWC Shanghai 2025 is scheduled to take place from June 18 to June 20 in Shanghai, China. Huawei will be showcasing its latest products and solutions in Hall N1 of the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) during the event.

The widespread adoption of 5G-Advanced is rapidly progressing in 2025. Huawei is collaborating with global carriers, industry experts, and thought leaders to explore how AI innovations can reshape telecom services, infrastructure, and operations to drive new revenue streams and expedite the transition to an intelligent world.
