Foreign ministers from 57 member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) are set to meet in Istanbul to discuss the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel. The Council of Foreign Ministers session will focus on joint action against Israel's destabilizing acts, with Türkiye expected to emphasize unity in the Islamic world.

The meeting will address the current state of the OIC in a changing world, particularly in light of conflicts and emerging challenges in the Middle East. The ongoing Iran-Israel conflict is likely to dominate the agenda, with the highest turnout expected compared to previous conventions.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, a vocal critic of Israel, may also speak at the meeting, which will feature a special session dedicated to Israel's attacks on Iran. The OIC is anticipated to vote on draft decisions regarding the Istanbul Declaration and Gaza and Palestine at the conclusion of the meeting.

Key topics for discussion include the situation in the Gaza Strip, efforts for rebuilding the enclave, steps towards a two-state solution for Palestine-Israel, and enhancing cooperation to address challenges affecting Muslim societies.

Türkiye will underscore its commitment to prioritizing Palestine, improving the capacity of OIC member states, and halting the escalation of conflicts in the region. OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha has condemned Israeli aggression against Iran, calling for international support to address the violations of international law.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will also address the Syrian conflict, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and the rise of Islamophobia, urging OIC countries to work together for stability and prosperity in the region.

Additionally, Türkiye has played a significant role in facilitating the evacuation of EU citizens from Iran amid escalating tensions between Tel Aviv and Tehran. The European Union has commended Türkiye for its support in ensuring smooth land crossings and onward travel for evacuees.
