Islamabad says Trump helped end recent fighting with India, but New Delhi denies he played any role.

Pakistan has announced its intention to nominate US President Donald Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize, citing his role in negotiating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan last month. However, India has denied that the US played any part in mediating the conflict.

Trump, who has previously expressed his desire to win the Nobel Peace Prize, was praised by Pakistan for his 'decisive diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership' during the crisis. The Pakistani government commended his efforts in de-escalating the situation between the two nuclear-armed nations.

While Trump claims to have brokered the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, India refutes these statements. The US president has emphasized the importance of trade in convincing the two countries to agree to a ceasefire, despite India's denial of any US involvement in the negotiations.

Although some in Pakistan have welcomed the decision to nominate Trump for the prestigious award, others have criticized it as 'unfortunate'. Former Pakistani ambassador to the US, Maleeha Lodhi, expressed concerns over compromising national dignity by supporting a candidate who has made controversial statements in the past.

Trump, on the other hand, downplayed the possibility of winning the Nobel Peace Prize, stating that he believes he will not receive the award regardless of his actions. Throughout his presidency, Trump has aimed to resolve global conflicts, but has faced challenges in achieving lasting peace agreements.

Despite his aspirations for the Nobel Peace Prize, Trump has been vocal in his criticism of former President Barack Obama's win in 2009. He has called for the award to be rescinded and has expressed his frustration over not receiving the same recognition.
