During the Huawei Developer Conference in Dongguan, China, the tech giant announced that over 8 million developers are now actively involved in the development of HarmonyOS, China's self-developed operating system. This marks a significant milestone in the expansion of the HarmonyOS ecosystem.
Huawei shared that there are currently more than 30,000 HarmonyOS applications and meta-services in development or undergoing updates. These applications span nearly 20 sectors, including government affairs, healthcare, and industrial applications. Additionally, over 100 mainstream productivity platforms have been adapted for HarmonyOS, benefiting around 38 million enterprises.
HarmonyOS applications were officially launched on September 25, 2023, signaling the beginning of the operating system's independent ecosystem development. At the conference, Huawei introduced the developer beta version of HarmonyOS 6 and unveiled the Harmony Agent Framework (HMAF) for the HarmonyOS ecosystem. This framework aims to create an advanced AI ecosystem with autonomous decision-making and collaborative capabilities.
HarmonyOS, also known as Hongmeng in Chinese, is an open-source operating system designed for a wide range of devices and scenarios. Initially introduced in 2019, HarmonyOS has been integrated into smartphones, tablets, wearables, smart home appliances, and new energy vehicles.
