6 Android Features Still Missing: A User's Wishlist

Android innovations I'd still like to see

As a long-time Android user, I have always preferred the operating system over iOS due to its value for money and customization options. However, despite my loyalty to Android, there are still some features that I believe the platform is lacking. Here are six features that I am eagerly waiting for:

A better way of sorting home page icons

Organizing app icons on the home page can be a frustrating experience for Android users. The current method of manually arranging icons can be time-consuming and inefficient. I am hoping for a more intuitive way to design and organize the Android home screen, such as an auto-app-sort feature or a browser-based sorting system.

True customizable font

Customizing fonts has always been a core part of Android, but the current options for font selection are limited. I would like to see Android introduce a way to import .ttf files for greater font customization, allowing users to choose from a wider range of fonts.

Improved PC integration

While the integration between Android phones and Windows PCs has improved, there is still room for enhancement. Features like seamless messaging app usage and multitasking between phone and computer screens would greatly improve productivity for Android users.

A Zen Space equivalent

A feature similar to Apple's Focus Mode, which allows users to temporarily reduce notifications and distractions, is something that I believe all Android phones should have. This feature would help users focus on tasks without interruptions and promote digital detox.

Changes to charging

Android could benefit from features that improve charging and battery health, such as providing predictions for full charge times and reminders to unplug the phone when fully charged. Additionally, battery health reminders and tips for optimizing battery life would be valuable additions.

An actual rival to Shortcuts

Android's current Routines feature falls short of iOS Shortcuts in terms of functionality and versatility. Android users would benefit from a redesigned system that allows for more customizable actions and triggers, similar to the capabilities of iOS Shortcuts.

Overall, these are the features that I believe would greatly enhance the Android user experience and make the platform even more user-friendly and efficient.
