Yemen's Houthis threatened to attack US ships in the Red Sea if the United States waded into the over week-long Israel-Iran conflict and supported the Jewish nation on its attacks on the Islamic Republic.

Yemen's Houthis have issued a warning that they will target American ships in the Red Sea if the US decides to join Israel in attacking Iran, according to a spokesperson for the group. This threat comes as the conflict between Israel and Iran enters its ninth day with no signs of resolution.

Previously, the US and the Houthis had agreed to a ceasefire in May, which included a commitment from both sides not to target each other. The recent warning from the Houthis follows their previous attacks on ships associated with Israel in the Red Sea, which occurred after Israel's military operation in response to an attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran has seen continued airstrikes, including reports of strikes on an Iranian nuclear facility and the killing of a senior Iranian commander by Israeli forces.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz announced the death of Saeed Izadi, a key figure in the Quds Force's Palestine Corps, who was targeted in an Israeli strike in Qom. Katz described Izadi's death as a significant achievement for Israeli intelligence and the Air Force, highlighting Izadi's role in supporting Hamas prior to the Gaza conflict.

Iran has reported casualties among its Revolutionary Guards due to Israeli strikes, with recent attacks targeting Khorramabad. Despite the casualties, Iranian media did not confirm the death of Saeed Izadi, who is under sanctions by the US and UK.

The conflict escalated further with air raid sirens sounding in central Israel and the West Bank, along with missile interceptions over Tel Aviv. While there were no casualties reported, tensions remain high as the conflict persists.

Israel's military operation, dubbed Operation Rising Lion, was launched on June 13 in response to concerns about Iran's nuclear ambitions. Iran maintains that its nuclear program is peaceful, while Israel, though not officially confirming, is believed to possess nuclear weapons.

The conflict has resulted in significant casualties on both sides, with hundreds killed and thousands injured in Iran, and civilian casualties reported in Israel. US President Donald Trump has expressed concerns about Iran's nuclear capabilities and is considering backing Israel in the conflict.

According to the International Atomic Energy Agency, Israel targeted a centrifuge manufacturing workshop in Iran, emphasizing that no nuclear material was present at the facility.
