An individual was swiftly taken to the hospital after falling from a cliff in Co Donegal. The incident occurred when a member of the public heard cries for help at Cliff Fall in Bundoran's West End around 7 am.
The emergency services were promptly contacted for assistance. Malin Head Coast Guard coordinated the response, deploying Bundoran RNLI, Donegal Fire Service, the National Ambulance Service, and the Coast Guard helicopter, Rescue 118 from Sligo to the scene.
Bundoran RNLI volunteers were alerted at 7:25 am and swiftly made their way to the location. The casualty was found at the base of the cliff, having landed on rocks.
The RNLI team successfully retrieved the casualty to the beach, where Rescue 118 airlifted them for further treatment at Sligo General Hospital. The individual's current condition remains unknown.
Daimon Fergus, Bundoran RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager, expressed gratitude to the alert member of the public and praised the collaborative effort of all agencies involved in the swift response. Fergus wished the casualty a speedy recovery.
The RNLI advises all coastal visitors to maintain a safe distance from cliff edges, exercise caution near the water, and in case of an emergency, dial 999 or 112 to reach the Coast Guard.
