Israel's air force has launched a new series of air attacks on Iran as the conflict between the two nations reaches its second week. Fighter jets were deployed to target military infrastructure in south-western Iran on Saturday, according to the air force.
During the attacks, a veteran Iranian commander, Saeed Izadi, was killed in Qom, Iran. The Israeli Defence Minister confirmed his death, stating that Izadi had financed Hamas, leading to the war in Gaza. The Revolutionary Guards reported the deaths of five members in Khorramabad.
Iran has suffered significant casualties, with at least 430 people killed and 3,500 injured since the conflict began on June 13. Meanwhile, in Israel, 24 civilians have lost their lives due to Iranian missile attacks.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi emphasized that negotiations cannot take place while the attacks continue. US President Donald Trump expressed concerns about Iran's nuclear ambitions and hinted at potential US involvement in the conflict.
French President Emmanuel Macron and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian discussed the Iranian nuclear program. Israel targeted the Isfahan nuclear facility, but no hazardous materials leaked. The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed the strike, stating that it had no radiological consequences.
Interceptions were seen over Tel Aviv as Israel's air defense systems responded to incoming Iranian missiles. The conflict has also resulted in casualties on both sides, with reports of attacks on hospitals and ambulances.
The conflict has drawn international attention, with calls for de-escalation from Turkey, Russia, and China. However, Israel remains committed to dismantling Iran's nuclear and missile capabilities.
