US president Donald Trump has announced that the US has completed strikes on three sites in Iran, including Fordow. This is what we know so far

Over the weekend, President Donald Trump announced that the US had carried out strikes on three nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan.

Trump took to social media to declare the successful attack, stating that all planes involved had safely exited Iranian airspace after dropping a full payload of bombs on the primary target, Fordow.

In a subsequent post, Trump called for Iran to end the conflict, with plans to address the nation from the White House later in the day.

Reports from Israel indicate that the country was in full coordination with the US on the strikes, with former Israeli Minister for Defence, Yoav Gallant, showing support for the decision.

Earlier, it was reported that B-2 bombers had been moved to Guam in preparation for the strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities.

The US involvement follows a series of Israeli strikes on Iran aimed at dismantling the country's air defenses and missile capabilities, as well as damaging its nuclear enrichment sites.

Iran, in response, has launched retaliatory strikes against Israel.

Trump's decision to engage directly in the conflict comes shortly after he had indicated a potential alliance with Israel in attacking Iran.

Israel's rationale for the attacks is to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, while Iran maintains that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian warned of further retaliation if Israel's bombing campaign persisted, emphasizing that Iran would not halt its nuclear activities.

Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei cautioned the US that any strikes against Iran would have severe consequences.
