A NASA spacecraft orbiting the moon recently took photos of the crash site of a lunar lander from a Japanese company. The images were released by NASA two weeks after the lander, named Resilience, crashed into Mare Frigoris, a volcanic region in the moon's far north. The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter captured the scene, showing a dark smudge and a faint halo caused by the impact. This was the second failed mission in two years for ispace, with a news conference planned to discuss the incident.
