President on Truth Social says US completed ‘very successful attack’ on Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan sites

President Donald Trump declared on Saturday that the United States had conducted attacks on three nuclear facilities in Iran, aligning with Israel's efforts to dismantle the country's nuclear program. This move is seen as a risky attempt to weaken a long-standing adversary, despite the potential for Tehran to retaliate and escalate tensions in the region.

In a social media post, Trump stated, 'We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home.' He also commended the American military for their role in this operation, emphasizing the need for peace.

Iran's state-run IRNA news agency confirmed an attack on the Fordow nuclear site, indicating that air defenses were activated and hostile targets were identified. The US decision to directly participate in these strikes follows Israel's recent offensive actions against Iran, aimed at dismantling air defenses, offensive missile capabilities, and nuclear enrichment facilities.

US and Israeli officials have highlighted the use of American stealth bombers and a massive bunker buster bomb to target heavily fortified underground sites like Fordow. Reuters reported that B-2 bombers were deployed to Guam for this mission, with US officials confirming their involvement in the attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities.

Israel initiated these strikes to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, while Iran maintains that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. Trump's decision to engage in this military action is significant, given his previous stance on avoiding foreign conflicts and interventionism. He has emphasized the importance of Iran making peace to prevent further escalations.

Following the strikes, Trump spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the situation. Iran's supreme leader and foreign ministry have warned of dire consequences if the US continues to target the Islamic Republic, raising concerns about the potential for a broader regional conflict.
