Social media is awash with claims it can help us destress and lower cortisol levels – but experts warn against these "quick fixes".

There is a lot of talk on social media about ways to destress and lower cortisol levels, but experts caution against relying on quick fixes. Cortisol, a stress hormone, is often blamed for various health issues such as weight gain and hair loss.

Many posts suggest consuming a 'cortisol cocktail' made of orange juice, coconut water, and sea salt, taking supplements, or using lavender balm for massages. However, the effectiveness of these methods is questionable.

Without knowing our actual cortisol levels, it can be challenging to determine if they need to be reduced. Nevertheless, some physical changes like puffier cheeks and tighter clothing may indicate elevated cortisol levels.
