Former Texas Republican U.S. Rep. Blake Farenthold, who left Congress amid sexual harassment allegations, has died at the age of 63. He passed away in a Corpus Christi hospital after battling heart and liver issues in recent years, as confirmed by his former political consultant, Steve Ray. Farenthold's wife, Debbie Farenthold, also verified his death on Friday.

Blake Farenthold was elected in 2010, defeating long-serving Democratic U.S. Rep. Solomon Ortiz. However, in 2017, he announced that he would not seek reelection.

In a video shared on his campaign's Facebook page, Farenthold refuted accusations from a former aide, denying claims of subjecting her to sexually suggestive comments and behavior, and subsequently terminating her employment after she raised concerns. He acknowledged the unprofessional office environment that included gossip, inappropriate comments, and jokes.

Ray mentioned that everyone makes mistakes, and Farenthold was no exception. Despite his flaws, he was described as a tech-savvy individual with a passion for the internet and technology before entering the political arena.

According to Ray, Farenthold was dedicated to serving his constituents, particularly in combating crime and advocating for transparency. Prior to his political career, he worked as a sidekick for a conservative radio talk show host.

After leaving office, Farenthold hosted his own radio program until his passing. He is survived by his wife and two adult daughters, Morgan Baucum and Amanda Lawrence.
