Mahmoud Khalil has expressed his commitment to resuming his pro-Palestinian activism after being released on bail from a US immigrant detention center. Despite facing deportation efforts by the Trump administration, Khalil remains steadfast in his advocacy for Palestinian rights.

Upon his return to New York from Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, Khalil was warmly welcomed by friends, supporters, and US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The recent Columbia University graduate, accompanied by his wife who is a US citizen, emphasized his dedication to speaking up for Palestine, regardless of the consequences.

During his time at Columbia University, Khalil played a significant role in the pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel student protest movement that gained momentum on campuses. His arrest by federal immigration agents on March 8 marked the beginning of Trump's crackdown on international students with similar views.
