A man was taken into custody after admitting to strangling his 24-year-old wife in a Delhi hotel room due to suspected infidelity. The woman was found deceased by the hotel manager, leading to the arrest of the accused, Gopal Sharma, who had fled to Mathura but was later apprehended and handed over to Delhi Police.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (central) Nidhin Valsan stated that Mathura's Highway Police Station contacted the manager of New Victoria Hotel in Delhi's Paharganj area after receiving information from Gopal. Upon inspection, the woman was discovered lying unresponsive on the bed, prompting the police to confirm that she had been strangled.
Initial investigations revealed that Gopal and his wife, Kriti Sharma, checked into the hotel on June 20 and Gopal left alone around 9 pm, claiming he was going out for food but never returned. He later made a distress call from Mathura, confessing to the crime, which led to his detention and subsequent transfer to Delhi Police.
Gopal confessed during interrogation that he killed his wife out of suspicion of infidelity, resulting in a fatal altercation. The reason for the couple's trip from Mathura to Delhi remains unclear, with a murder case now registered, the body undergoing post-mortem, and efforts being made to locate her family.
