Xiaomi has just expanded its vacuum lineup with the launch of the Robot Vacuum S40C, a smart cleaning device that offers improvements in navigation and mopping efficiency compared to Xiaomi's Robot Vacuum S20.

Navigation and Features

At the heart of the S40C is an upgraded LDS laser navigation system with 360° panoramic detection, which should be able to quickly and accurately map out home layouts and adapt cleaning routes in real-time. With dimensions of 340 × 340 × 97 mm, the S40C should be able to clean even in hard-to-reach areas.

This upgraded navigation system works in tandem with multiple onboard sensors to avoid obstacles and drops. It can also climb small ledges of up to 20mm in height, reducing the likelihood of it getting stuck during use.

Suction and Cleaning Modes

With up to 5,000 Pa of suction power, the Xiaomi Vacuum S40C has four modes (Silent, Standard, Strong, and Turbo) that are designed to handle everything from dust and pet hair to larger particles.

As for mopping, the S40C features a 260 ml water tank with three adjustable water output levels, as well as a Y-shaped mopping pattern that mimics manual floor wiping for a more thorough clean. A 520 ml dust box rounds out the cleaning hardware, and the unit is powered by a 2600 mAh battery. Xiaomi did not give an indication of its battery.

Smart Home Integration

If you're planning to integrate the Robot Vacuum S40C into your smart home, Xiaomi has confirmed that standard smart-home features remain fully supported. You can manage the device through the Xiaomi Home app, which allows for map customisation, scheduled cleaning tasks, and the setting of no-go zones. For added convenience, the vacuum also supports voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum S40C is available for purchase for S$189 from the official Xiaomi web store at mi.com and the official Xiaomi storefronts on Shopee and Lazada.

To celebrate the launch, Xiaomi will be hosting a Smart Home Experiential Roadshow from 9 June to 15 June at Waterway Point, Village Square on Level 1. There, interested buyers can check out the S40C in action within a simulated smart home environment.
