The low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has a “medium” chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Sunday afternoon.

At 3 p.m., state weather bureau said the LPA was located at 220 kilometers east northeast of Infanta, Quezon or 215 km east of Baler, Aurora.

In its 4 p.m. daily weather forecast, PAGASA said the LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, and Albay.

Meanwhile, occasional rains will persist over Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Antique due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

Metro Manila, Zamboanga Peninsula, Pangasinan, and the rest of Visayas, Central Luzon, MIMAROPA, CALABARZON, and Bicol Region will see cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms also due to the Habagat.

These moderate to heavy rains may trigger flash floods and landslides.

The rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the Habagat.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will be observed throughout the country due to localized thunderstorms.

These severe thunderstorms may cause flash floods and landslides.

Wind and Coastal Conditions

State meteorologists also said winds will be moderate to rough while coastal waters will be moderate to strong on the western sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas.

The rest of the country will see light to moderate wind conditions and slight to moderate coastal water conditions.
