On Monday 9th June, Lancaster will play host to High Royal Highness King Charles. We want everyone who would like to turn out and support his visit to have a safe and enjoyable day and we'd like to make the public aware of some airspace restrictions as a result.
Airspace Restrictions
A temporary airspace restriction will be in place, from 0800-1700hrs on Monday 9th June 2025, covering a large part of Lancaster, as per the below map. This means it is an offence for any unmanned aircraft to fly below 1,400ft above sea level in the designated area without the explicit permission of Lancashire Constabulary.
Lancashire Constabulary will be monitoring the airspace in and around the restricted airspace. We will specifically have officers in the air and on the ground to intercept drone pilots who do not follow the rules.
Robust action will be taken and members of the public found breaching the restricted airspace (temporary) may face prosecution and or have their drone and associated equipment seized.
Further Information
Full details of the restrictions are available on the Flying remotely piloted aircraft | UK Civil Aviation Authority. A handy reminder of rules that drone pilots must abide by is also included below.
Drone pilots are also encouraged to check other sources of information such as NOTAM, and Drone Safety Map, before flying.
