Eagle-eyed hurling fans begin to nab train tickets for Sunday, July 20, as morning trains sell out in both counties

TRAIN tickets for the day of the 2025 All-Ireland hurling final are already vanishing fast, as Limerick and Cork fans plan ahead in the hope that their county will be contesting for the Liam MacCarthy Cup.

The 8:25am train leaving Limerick’s Colbert station on Sunday, July 20 has sold out.

Morning slots on the same date from Charleville to Dublin’s Heuston are also sold out, after Cork’s confidence-boosting win over six-time Munster champions Limerick on Saturday evening.

Both the 9am and 11am trains set to depart on that Sunday from the town of Charleville - their local clubman is Saturday's Man of the Match Darragh Fitzgibbon - are sold out. And the Iarnród Éireann website is also indicating that there are no tickets remaining for the 8:25am and 10:25am trains from Cork Kent station to Heuston on that date.

The Cork team stopped at Geary's Bar in Charleville on Saturday night on the way back to Rebel Land after the epic Munster final showdown, to celebrate their extremely tight win over Limerick in a hugely dramatic and extraordinarily fast-paced match.

After the teams were level on the final whistle, they also drew after 20 minutes of extra time, all following a game which saw a substitute referee, a battle of the ages, heated exchanges at the halftime whistle and controversy over added time.

The sides were deadlocked 2-19 to 1-22 at the end of full time.

A late 65 from Cork man Darragh Fitzgibbon in the last play of the game forced a penalty shoot-out. Cork dramatically won the shootout, with 3-2.

Diarmaid Byrnes and Aaron Gillane hit the net for the Treaty side during penalties. Ultimately, Cork came out on top, after the 43,580 people held their breath in TUS Gaelic Grounds.

It would appear that Cork and Limerick fans now seem quietly confident for an All-Ireland final day visit to Croke Park, but, of course, there is no guarantee they will feature, as both sides have more encounters ahead.
