When used responsibly, social media has the power to inspire positive change and amplify support for meaningful causes. Christopher Diwata, known for his viral performance on a popular noontime show, is now using his platform to advocate for blood donation in the Philippines in partnership with The Medical City.

Christopher, famous for his portrayal of Jacob from Twilight, has shifted his focus to raise awareness about the urgent need for blood donors. By blending entertainment with advocacy, he creatively uses humor and passion to encourage people to donate blood.

The Medical City recognizes the importance of blood donations and is leveraging Christopher's influence to inspire public action. According to Joshua C. Dizon, Communications Head of The Medical City, making people laugh first is the best way to motivate them to take action.

The World Health Organization reports that over 100 million units of blood are donated annually worldwide to help patients recovering from surgery, cancer treatment, or medical emergencies. Blood transfusion is crucial for individuals dealing with trauma, chronic illnesses, surgery, or cancer, serving as a lifeline that sustains health and saves lives.

This campaign reflects The Medical City's dedication to healthcare by engaging the community through impactful advocacy. Collaborating with influential figures like Diwata, the institution aims to promote public health, save lives, and encourage social responsibility.

The campaign also calls on individuals and communities to participate in blood donation initiatives. Despite many Filipinos being eligible to donate, only a small percentage actually do. This highlights the need for ongoing education, awareness, and community engagement to establish a reliable network of voluntary blood donors. With National Blood Donor Month approaching in July, there is an opportunity to raise awareness and support this life-saving cause by donating blood.
