Senator Sherwin Gatchalian celebrated the passing of Senate Bill No. 2868, known as the Anti-POGO Act of 2025, emphasizing that it not only prohibits offshore gaming operations but also establishes protections for the Filipino citizens.

Gatchalian, the head of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, stated, "The well-being of the people should never be jeopardized in favor of illicit and unethical enterprises." He added, "This legislation is not just a legal document, but a response to the public's demand to eradicate the POGO threat."

The bill primarily revokes Republic Act 11590, which legalized POGOs in the country. Once enacted, it requires the seizure of all POGO-related assets and equipment to prevent their use in unlawful activities.

Senator Risa Hontiveros, who spearheaded investigations into POGO-related offenses, also expressed her approval of this decision. She remarked, "I appreciate the committee on ways and means for incorporating the amendments I suggested, which stem from the findings of the Alice Guo investigation."

Alongside the Anti-POGO bill, the Senate passed several other bills on Monday, June 9. The Senate is scheduled to conclude its sessions on June 11, 2025.
