President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. stated on Tuesday that the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte is expected to continue into the 20th Congress.
“Why? What is the controversy? It is very clear that it will. Because there is no way that even if they start the trial now, that they will finish it before the new Senators come in,” Marcos informed reporters.
“So well… again, the senators will decide,” he added.
On Monday night, Senate President Francis Escudero was sworn in as the presiding officer of the impeachment court for the Vice President's trial.
The Senate also approved Senator Joel Villanueva's proposal for the remaining senators to take their oaths as senator-judges in the impeachment trial at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. — AOL, GMA Integrated News
