Today, Kelly Loeffler, the Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), has called on California Governor Gavin Newsom to request an SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) Declaration. This declaration would enable the agency to provide urgent assistance to small businesses in Los Angeles that have suffered from looting and property destruction during the recent civil unrest. The SBA is prepared to offer crucial aid to innocent American victims who have had their storefronts looted and damaged by rioters.
SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler emphasized the need for Governor Newsom to prioritize law-abiding Americans over criminal illegal aliens. Many small businesses in Los Angeles have been victims of looting, vandalism, and destruction by the migrant mob. While local authorities seem to be allowing the city to burn, federal partners are ready to assist American citizens in rebuilding their businesses once the Governor requests help.
Due to concerns for the safety of employees and business owners, Administrator Loeffler announced the relocation of the SBA Regional Office out of Los Angeles. This decision was made in response to the city's lack of cooperation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The Regional Office, located close to the ongoing violence in downtown Los Angeles, has been moved as U.S. Marines are deployed to restore order in the area.
The SBA has provided California with all necessary information to request an EIDL Declaration. This declaration would allow small businesses in Los Angeles to apply for low-interest, long-term loans of up to $2 million to aid in their recovery from the violent events of the past week. The SBA is committed to expediting the approval process for any disaster declaration submitted by Governor Newsom, given the urgent nature of the situation.
