Plans for expanding the Zimmer Biomet Ltd facility in Shannon have been given the go-ahead by the Clare County Council. The American company submitted a planning permission application for the project back in November 2024.
The approved development will include a two-storey manufacturing expansion connected to the existing facility, as well as a single-storey electrical room made from block cavity construction and finished with a concrete flat roof. Additionally, there will be a single-storey metal-clad steel structure to house new equipment, along with a new perimeter roadway.
Currently, around 550 individuals are employed at the Shannon facility.
