During Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference in Cupertino, California, the tech giant unveiled a new software interface design called Liquid Glass. This design, named iOS 26, extends across all of Apple's operating systems, including iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, watchOS 26, and tvOS 26. These systems have been rebranded to reflect the upcoming year instead of a version number.
Despite the excitement surrounding the new design, Chinese consumers were not as impressed. The hashtag 'iOS26 Ugly' started trending on Weibo, a popular microblogging app in China, with over 20,000 netizens expressing their disappointment with the new interface.
Yan Binglu, a 22-year-old iPhone user from Chengdu, shared her thoughts on the redesign, stating that she found the new system less visually appealing than the previous versions. As a result, she is reconsidering upgrading her smartphone this year and will stick with her current iOS version.
