Focusing on people who have or have had a diagnosis of cancer

A cancer research project is seeking participants to join its survey, focusing on individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer. The survey aims to enhance the engagement of cancer support centers with those in need of their services.

The study is led by UCD postgraduate psychology student Niall Kennedy and Professor Suzanne Guerin, head of school at the UCD School of Psychology. Conducted on behalf of the National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP), the research is looking for cancer patients over the age of 18 to participate in an anonymous survey.

Aim Of The Research

The research project, ongoing since September, aims to understand the reasons why individuals choose to engage or not engage with cancer support services in different communities. The goal is to identify barriers that prevent people from accessing these services and to help centers improve their outreach.

How Can People Participate

To participate in the survey, individuals can visit the online link provided or look for QR codes on posters around the Nenagh area. While the survey is currently targeted at specific regions in Ireland, it is open to all cancer patients nationwide.

How Can People Get Involved

The researchers encourage individuals to spread the word about the survey and consider participating. They also welcome groups or clubs interested in learning more about the research project to reach out for further information.

For inquiries or to participate, individuals can contact Niall Kennedy via email at [email protected].
