The suspect is being held at a Garda station in Dublin under the Criminal Justice Act 1984. Investigating gardaí are also conducting a search at a residence in Clondalkin, Dublin 22. The house and garden will undergo technical and forensic examinations, although the current occupants are not linked to McCarrick's disappearance.
McCarrick, a New York native, worked as a waitress in Dublin and was last seen purchasing groceries on the day she went missing. The arrest and search operation are being overseen by a team from the DMR South Central Division, with support from the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
