Board of governors formally finds that Iran is not complying with nuclear obligations for first time in 20 years

The UN nuclear watchdog's board of governors has officially declared that Iran is not complying with its nuclear obligations for the first time in two decades, according to AP reports. This decision could escalate tensions and trigger an attempt to reinstate UN sanctions on Tehran later this year. Nineteen countries on the International Atomic Energy Agency's board voted for the resolution, while Russia, China, and Burkina Faso opposed it, with 11 abstentions and two nations not voting.

The draft resolution states that Iran's failure to provide the Agency with full and timely cooperation regarding undeclared nuclear material and activities at multiple locations in Iran constitutes non-compliance with its Safeguards Agreement.
